The Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology has recognized the Pain Studies Lab with its Community-Engaged Research Award. Dr. Diane Gromala and Dr. Christopher Shaw, Professors in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, received the award at the FCAT Excellence Awards ceremony.
The award recognizes research carried out with communities rather than only about them. It reflects the lab’s long-standing practice of working directly with patient-partners who live with chronic pain, whose lived experience shapes the design and testing of the systems the lab builds.
